Frequently asked questions

What does this app actually do?

You add an item you're tempted to buy. The app starts a cool-down timer (you choose: 10 minutes to 7 days). When the timer ends, we ping you with one question: Still want it? You can skip it, buy it, or wait longer. If you skip, we add the price to a "money not spent" total. That's the whole app.

Is it free?

Yes. The app is currently free, with no ads, no subscription, no tracking, and no in-app purchases. We may introduce a paid Pro tier in a future version, but anything you have now will remain free.

Why does it need notifications?

Notifications are not a feature — they're the entire product. The cool-down timer is useless if you're not pinged when it ends. If you decline notifications, the app still works as a list, but it can't do the one thing it's built for. We ask for notification permission only after you add your first item, so you can see what it's for.

Why no subscription?

Most "save money" apps charge a subscription. We thought that was hypocritical. The app is currently free, and if we ever add paid features, they will be one-time unlocks at cup-of-coffee prices, not recurring subscriptions.

Where is my data stored?

On your device. Only. We don't have a server. We don't have a database with a copy of your cooling list. If you delete the app or tap "Delete everything" in Settings, your data is gone — we don't have a backup. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I sync my data between iPhone and iPad?

Not in this version. Cloud sync is something we may build later (as an opt-in feature, end-to-end encrypted). For now, each device has its own list.

My notification didn't fire. Why?

Possible reasons, in order of likelihood:

  1. Notification permission was revoked. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Still Want It?.
  2. Focus mode / Do Not Disturb suppressed it. We use the "time-sensitive" interruption level on iOS, which should pierce most Focus modes — but not all. Check your Focus settings.
  3. The OS dropped it. Rare but possible. The OS owns notification scheduling; we don't.

If you keep missing notifications, write to us with your phone model and OS version and we'll help debug.

Can I edit a cooling item after I added it?

No, by design. Editing the price or wait time after creation breaks the commitment. If you really need to change something, you can drop the item (no money-not-spent credit) and re-add it. We considered allowing edits and decided the friction was the feature.

What's the difference between "Skip" and "Drop"?

This is intentional. The counter rewards the act of waiting through the cool-down, not the act of pressing a button.

Why doesn't the app have streaks / badges / a "saving streak"?

By choice. We think streaks make low-spending feel like homework, and they break our promise to never make you feel bad about your decisions. Some weeks you skip nothing. That's allowed.

I'd like a feature you don't have.

Tell us. Email support@stillwantit.net with your idea. Things we will not add: bank account linking, work-hours-as-cost overlay, social sharing, AI shopping coaches, badges, streaks. The "what we won't add" list is part of how this product stays calm.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. The app does not include any analytics SDK, advertising network, or tracking technology. We never share your data with anyone because we never see your data. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete everything?

Open the app → gear icon (top right) → Your data → Delete everything → confirm. Your cooling list, your history, and your money-not-spent total are wiped from your device immediately. We don't have a copy. There is no recovery.

You can also just uninstall the app — same effect.

I want to talk to a human.

You'll get one. Email support@stillwantit.net and a real person will reply within 1–3 business days.
